MARQUEE WEDDING PLANNING, COTSWOLDS AND OXFORDSHIRE
There is something truly magical about a marquee wedding.
Whether you dream of saying your vows in the grounds of your family home, by a lake in a country estate or the gardens of a beloved venue, a marquee gives you something a traditional wedding venue can’t, total creative freedom.
A marquee wedding is a quintessentially English affair, and nowhere does it quite so beautifully as the Oxfordshire and Cotswolds countryside.
It's the perfect choice for couples looking to host a destination wedding in the UK, or for those who want to stretch their celebrations into a weekend affair. I'll be honest with you: marquee weddings hold a very special place in my heart. I was lucky enough to have my own wedding at home and there is nothing quite like that feeling of creating your very own venue, entirely on your own terms. Which is exactly why I've made them a specialism.
The freedom is extraordinary. The logistics? Less so.
Here's the thing that not every couple realises when they first fall in love with the idea of a marquee wedding, building your own venue from scratch is genuinely one of the most complex things you can plan. I don't say that to put you off (please don't be put off, they are absolutely worth it), but because I want you to go into it with your eyes wide open.
Think about what a traditional venue quietly takes care of for you: mains power, running water, permanent toilets, kitchens, parking infrastructure, lighting, a sound system, furniture, a bar structure, the list goes on. With a marquee wedding, every single one of those things needs to be sourced, organised, tested and coordinated from scratch. Generator power, water supply and toilets might not be the most glamorous elements of your wedding vision but they matter enormously.
The right generator, positioned well and tested before a single guest arrives, is the difference between a seamless celebration and a stressful one. Toilet hire needs to be sized correctly for your guest numbers, sited discreetly, serviced appropriately and kept immaculate throughout. Lighting inside and outside the marquee transforms the atmosphere entirely, from the golden hour glow of fairy lights strung through a canopy to the dramatic impact of a statement chandelier.
Then there are the considerations that often catch couples completely off guard: is there adequate parking, have you thought about where suppliers are going to access the site from at 7am on setup day, with a 7 tonne lorry? Are there neighbours within earshot, and do you have a clear plan for music cut-off times? What happens if it rains and your beautiful lawn turns into a muddy thoroughfare? Is the ground level enough for structural stability? Is there a contingency for the power going down mid reception? These are the questions that keep event planners up at night. Happily, they're also exactly the kind of questions I love.
This is where I come in.
As your marquee wedding planner, I will handle the meticulous orchestration of every single moving part so that you get to experience all of the joy of a marquee wedding, without any of the overwhelm.
My marquee management service is designed to make the very most of your blank canvas. Together we'll map out every space with intention: beautiful long dining tables or elegant rounds, a drinks reception spilling out onto the terrace, a chill out lounge tucked into a corner, a show stopping dance floor reveal after dinner, a stage area that works for your band. Every zone considered, every transition thought through.
I'll oversee the marquee installation and be on site for the power test because nothing gets signed off until I'm satisfied everything is working as it should. I'll work alongside your caterers for the lay-up to make sure the room looks exactly as we've planned, and I'll manage the full wedding day itself, anticipating every pinch point before it becomes a problem.
If you're making use of the marquee on the day after for a relaxed Sunday brunch or a casual recovery gathering with your nearest and dearest. I'll coordinate a team to reset the space and ensure everything is fresh, clean and ready to go again.
Marquee Weddings, Your Questions Answered

Absolutely and some of my favourite weddings have been exactly that. A home wedding is incredibly special. It does require careful planning around logistics (access, parking, power, waste disposal, and being a considerate neighbour), but these are all things I will manage on your behalf. The result is a celebration with a warmth and intimacy that no hired venue can replicate.

Yes, and this is one of the areas where it really pays to get expert advice rather than Google it at midnight. The size and type of generator you need depends on your catering setup and menu, lighting, sound system and band requirements. Luxury portable toilet hire needs to be sized correctly for your guest numbers, positioned thoughtfully and managed throughout the day. I have trusted suppliers I work with regularly and I'll ensure everything is specified correctly from the start.

For a peak summer date, I'd recommend starting your planning journey at least 12 months ahead. Marquee companies, generators and luxury toilet hire get booked up quickly, particularly key summer weekends in the Cotswolds. The earlier we start, the more choices you'll have.

It can be because you're essentially building a venue from scratch. However, it also gives you complete control over every supplier and every element of your day, which can be enormously empowering. I will work transparently within your budget and help you understand exactly where your money is going, so there are no surprises.

I'll let you draw your own conclusions from everything above. Genuinely, I think you do. Not because you're not capable, but because the complexity of a marquee event is significant, and having an experienced professional to oversee every element means your wedding day is one you actually get to enjoy, rather than manage. It's what I do, and I love doing it.
The result?
A wedding that feels effortlessly personal, deeply considered and completely, unmistakably you. Your guests will have no idea of the months of behind the scenes planning that made it look so beautifully simple. That's exactly how it should be.
